Adding Google Analytics To WordPress

When you have a wordpress website, there will be the need for you to add google analytics to your site(s) so that you will always know how your website is doing. By adding Google analytics, you will know how much traffic you are getting, from which country, which post of the website are visitors reading the most, how long do visitors stay in your website, that is the bounce rate, etc.

When you have all these information, it will help you to know how better to serve your target audience. And moreover, Google will also know the existence of your website, which is good for search engine presence. However, Google analytics is not what Google use to index your website, but it will help in verifying your website easily, when you want to add your website to Google webmaster tools, which is responsible for indexing.

So, this is how to add Google analytics to your wordpress; first of all what you have to do is to get Google account, if you haven’t gotten one, it is very simple to register and it is also free. If you have an existing Google account there will be no need to register again, this is for people that do not have Google account before.

Go to Google and search for ‘Google account registration’.


Once you have clicked the ‘create your Google Account’, you will be redirected to an environment that will enable you enter your data such as this below;


After registering for Google account, you will be able to set up your Google plus account, webmaster tools, Google analytics, Gmail, YouTube account, virtually every account that has to do with Google. Just that one account gives you access to other Google accounts.

Now that you have a Google account, search for Google analytics.


Once you click on the ‘Google Analytics’ you will be able to get in since you have registered for Google Account. Now, once you are inside the Google Analytics environment, click on ‘sign up’ and you will be redirected to where you will have to fill out the data/information of the website you wish to add Google Analytics on.


When you are done filling the form, click on ‘Get Tracking ID’ button to get your tracking info. Copy the ‘Tracking ID’  to your website’s dashboard, All in One SEO, General Settings; inside the general settings, scroll down to Google Analytics ID and paste the copied tracking code from your Google Analytics account.




After having the tracking code pasted in that box (Google Analytics ID), simply scroll down to update the changes you have made.

As a matter of fact, you are done adding Google Analytics to your website. You can always go to your Google Analytics account to see the analysis of your website.

  2. I love Google Analytics. This is a very good, easy to read manual on how to get started. Will you be doing a post on using some of the features once it’s setup too?

    1. I might be doing that, however, Google Analytics it’s self explanatory. Once it is set up, just go to your account and play around with the features, you will grasp it.
